11-time Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals was named to the Board of Directors for DICK’s Sporting Goods, Inc. DICK’S is the largest US-based sporting goods retailer.
This is just one of Fitzgerald’s recent power moves, as he recently purchased a minority ownership stake in the Phoenix Suns. Fitzgerald also founded the “Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund,” and won the Walter Payton NFL Man of Year Award in 2017 for his work off of the football field.
Larry Fitzgerald is more than an athlete.
Black athletes and entertainers have long been the face of brands, without any real ownership. Hopefully, this marks a trend for more black representation on company boards, especially for those companies profiting so much from black culture.
